Supporting Students with Reading Fluency: A Practical Guide to Repeated Reading Interventions
This focused and practical webinar is designed for teachers who support students with literacy difficulties and want to implement a targeted reading fluency intervention in a one-to-one or small-group setting. The session will explore the repeated reading intervention approach — what it is, why it works, and how it can significantly improve students’ reading fluency over time.
Participants will learn how to plan, organise, and deliver this intervention effectively, including how to set up and manage the necessary tracking processes to monitor student progress. The webinar will include a demonstration of a ready-to-use tracking spreadsheet, which automatically calculates key indicators such as accuracy percentage and reading rate, making it easier for teachers to measure impact and adjust their approach as needed.
This webinar will be delivered by Aedamar O’Donnell, who has recently completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Special Education and conducted practitioner research specifically focused on reading fluency and the use of repeated reading strategies. Drawing on this work, Aedamar will share practical insights and reflections from her own experience, with the aim of supporting other teachers working in similar contexts.
This session is ideal for teachers working with students who experience literacy challenges and wish to implement a structured, evidence-based intervention to support progress. By the end of the webinar, participants will have the knowledge, confidence, and practical tools to introduce repeated reading interventions as part of their literacy support strategy.
