Drama for Wellbeing Resilience, Empathy, Self Expression, Decision-making.

We will examine the role drama in the primary curriculum plays in supporting and developing student wellbeing. This webinar strives to define well-being as a concept, and in particular, define wellbeing in the primary school context. The ‘five ways to well-being will be outlined. Social-emotional learning will be explored alongside the documentation of drama practices to enhance these skills.
We will explore 3 practical dramas that teachers can use to develop well-being in their classrooms.                
Junior Classes:            Resilience through drama: practical drama for ‘Little Miss Muffet’.
3rd and 4th Classes:   Empathy and Self Expression through drama: practical drama for. ‘The Famine’.
Senior Classes:            Decision making through drama: practical drama for ‘Tom Crean’.
We will
  • Define wellbeing and well-being in the primary curriculum context
  • Highlight the ways in which drama promotes well-being in areas identified in ‘The five ways to wellbeing.
  • Evaluate social-emotional learning and identify how these areas can be supported through drama.
