Meaningful Methods - Start the school year with clarity, confidence, and purpose.

Effective early literacy teaching is rooted in meaningful, playful, and dialogic learning experiences. This webinar with Dr Clara Maria Fiorentini focuses on teaching methods that are particularly well suited to the early stages of primary education, supporting high levels of engagement and active participation in Infants to 1st Class.

Grounded in the Primary Language Curriculum and the Primary Curriculum Framework, the session explores practical approaches to planning, questioning, and interaction that promote language development, learner agency, and progression. Teachers will be guided in using intentional talk, playful pedagogy, and responsive teaching to create literacy-rich learning experiences across the school day.

Participants will gain practical, classroom-ready methods that ensure early literacy learning is relevant, purposeful, and enjoyable, while laying strong foundations for continued learning throughout the year.

This webinar forms part four of a four-part Back to School webinar series delivered by Dr Clara Maria Fiorentini for Sligo Education Centre. The series is designed to support Infant to 1st Class teachers as they plan for a strong start to the school year, with a particular focus on early literacy learning aligned with the Primary Language Curriculum and the Primary Curriculum Framework. Each webinar builds on the last, offering practical, developmentally appropriate guidance to support confident teaching, purposeful planning, and engaging classroom practice from August through September.
